Patents
Two inventions from Tesla’s power electronics programs, both aimed at making high-volume hardware simpler to build: a press-fit fastener that replaces screws, and plate windings that replace hand-wound wire in high-power magnetics.

Press-fit fasteners for securing components together
Granted Mar 17, 2026 · Tesla, Inc.
A press-fit fastener that goes through holes in two components in a single pressing motion, replacing screws for joining a circuit board to its heatsink. Deformable eyelets grip each hole and can carry an electrical connection at the same time, cutting assembly steps, cycle time and board space.

Orthogonal joined plate windings for toroidal magnetics
Published Aug 6, 2025 · Tesla, Inc.
Flat metal plate windings that cross the body of a toroidal core at right angles, in place of conventional wound wire. The design is faster to manufacture, sheds heat better and fits a compact footprint on the circuit board, with improved electrical performance over hand-wound inductors.
