The work

Rameez led the hardware team behind a four-axis robotic arm that lets a firefighter aim the stream from a joystick or a wireless pendant, guiding mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers through PRDs, design for manufacture and design for assembly. The architecture work ran from motor selection, weighing brushed motors against BLDC and steppers, to absolute position sensing through encoders and J1939 CAN communication so the product speaks the same language as the vehicle it is mounted on.

He owned the power budget and cost roll-ups across a 400-line bill of materials, working with suppliers and the supply chain team to close the gaps. Two products came out of it, covering 350 to 1,250 GPM, each with its own wired or wireless controller and telemetry reported to the cloud for analytics and data collection.
